Farm Bakery

Ay just nine years old, Jasmine Pentleton started helping in the family bakery, and as she grew up, her dream of taking over the reins from her parents came true.

The Farm Bakery was opened 20 years ago, delivering wholesale throughout Northumberland, by 2010 they had their first shop in Amble and then in 2017 they opened a new store in Alnwick – The Farm Cakery. Originally the shop was going to focus just on cakes but it quickly became apparent that the customers in Alnwick wanted the full bakery experience.

As the popularity of the bakery grew, so did the range of goods with traditional bread rolls and traybakes topping the favourites with customers.

During lockdown the shop remained open with regular deliveries being made to people shielding in the community and a Saturday night Cakeaway for those craving a sweet treat in lockdown.

Since reopening the store Jasmine said Alnwick business has been booming again with many of those people who were shielding now coming into the shop to continue to shop local. They have seen the support on social media soar as more and more of their customers share their recommendations with friends and family.

“Over lockdown we have built up a lot of trust with customers and that has been highlighted by the number of people coming back into the bakery and supporting us when we reopened.”

For Jasmine people shopping local helps to support dream of being able take the family business into the future. “It’s so important to keep a town like Alnwick thriving and to do that you need to get out and Shop Local, Shop Northumberland.”

"We “Over lockdown we have built up a lot of trust with customers and that has been highlighted by the number of people coming back into the bakery and supporting us when we reopened.”
